There are so many things to do whilst staying at Eden Cottage.  These are just some of our favourites:

The Sandstone Trail is Northwest England's most popular trail and is voted one of Britains favourite walks.  The trail starts just around the corner from the cottage and stretches 34 miles/55 kilometres across the Cheshire countryside where you will pass through the vast and ancient Delamere Forest, pretty bluebell woods, across fields of crops, over canals, down sandstone stair cases and past Iron Age Hillforts.

The Pheasant Inn at Higher Burwardsley is a convenient half way point and manageable in a day.  You will want to enjoy a well deserved drink and meal on your arrival at the Pheasant and then get a taxi back to the cottage to relax and unwind.

If you don't want to walk all the way to The Pheasant Inn there are numerous smaller walks all accessible from the cottage that take in different sections of the Sandstone Trail depending on how strenuous you want your walk to be.  A popular alternative is to drive a few minutes up the road to Delamere Forest. Enjoy the lakeside walks and visitors centre or have a go on the tree top high wire adventure circuit at Go Ape.  There are also various different walks down onto the marshes, along the river and canal and through smaller fragments of the Forest of Mara.  Full details and maps are available in the cottage.

If architecture is more your thing, simply walk down the hill from the cottage to explore the numerous listed buildings in Frodsham before boarding the train to the ancient Roman city of Chester.  In just 16 minutes you will be in Chester with the most complete city walls and the largest Roman Amphitheatre in Britain, plus a 1000 year old Cathedral with Europe's finest example of medieval carvings and of course the 700 year old Rows featuring numerous shops, galleries, wine bars and restaurants.

Or 34 minutes by train in the other direction will take you into the centre of Liverpool with it's iconic Royal Liver Building, famous cathedrals, extensive shopping, Beatles memorabilia, museums, art galleries, waterfront restaurants and bars.  If you prefer to drive the 30 minutes into Liverpool instead please do remember to pay the Mersey toll.  Manchester is slightly further, just under 50 minutes by car or train, but still easily accessible and again offers extensive shopping, galleries and museums.

There are also numerous National Trust properties in the area.  One of our favourites is Tatton Park with the famous RHS Flower Show and Foodies Festival in July and the Classic Motor Show in August.  If cars are your thing, check out Carfest North in July - much nicer to relax and unwind in the cottage after a day at the festival than camping!  For more car and motorbike action have a look at the listings at Oulton Park which is just 15 minutes away by car.

If you are looking for something more adrenaline filled, drive 10 minutes up the road to the Aquapark for one of the largest Aquaglide installations in Britain, paddle boarding, canoeing and kayaking, wind surfing, open water swimming, sailing and children's adventure trail.

There really is something for everyone when you are staying at Eden Cottage.  We've included as much information as possible in the guest information book but if you have something particular in mind please do get in touch.
